MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has filed disqualification petition against incumbent Misamis Oriental governor and re-electionist Peter Unabia over his nurse joke in a campaign rally last April 3, 2025.

In a document released to the media on Monday, April 28, the commission's Task Force SAFE filed its motu proprio petition against Unabia before the Office of Clerk of the Commission.

The disqualification petition against Unabia stemmed from his joke about a nursing scholarship that favors "beautiful women."
