MANILA — The Port Management Office-Mindoro said it is expecting a surge of travelers in the upcoming days ahead of the Holy Week break.

According to the manager of the said port, the facility is already experiencing a gradual increase in travelers but is expecting a peak surge of passengers on Holy Wednesday (April 16) and Maundy Thursday (April 17).

"On average pag hindi peak season, nakakaranas kami ng around 3,000 passengers or less. Pero mula noong nagstart na 'yung mga byaheng Semana Santa, ang total arrival na namin ng passengers ay 27,000 na kaya talaga ang laki na rin ng itinaas," Port Manager Jon Gabriell Manansala said in an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo's Johnson Ikwento Mo.

Manansala added that the 27,000 arrival passenger count was recorded from Palm Sunday (April 13) up to Holy Tuesday (April 15).

When asked about the carrying capacity of the port itself, the official said it has a capacity of 3,000 to 3,500 passengers only but assured that a lot of vessels are ready to accommodate travelers so the port is easily decongested.
