MANILA — Two workers died hours after they were buried and rescued when part of a building under construction collapsed in Santa Rosa, Laguna this weekend, police said Monday.

Police said the two workers were rushed to the hospital but died on Sunday night.

Investigators earlier said the workers, aged 29 and 42, were pouring concrete on the second floor of the building when the scaffolding where they two were standing collapsed. This led to the floor caving in.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas suspended the construction of the mall being built on Tagaytay-Santa Rosa Road in Brgy. Sto. Domingo following the death of the two construction workers.
