(UPDATED) Two construction workers were buried when a part of a building being constructed collapsed in Barangay Sto. Domingo in Santa Rosa, Laguna on Sunday morning.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Benson Pimentel, chief of police of Sta. Rosa Laguna, the two workers are aged 29 and 42.

They were retrieved by combined units of the police and the Sta. Rosa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office around 4 p.m.

The victims, who were unconscious, were rushed to the hospital.

Police said the two were pouring concrete on the second floor of the building when the scaffolding where the two were standing collapsed. This led to the floor caving in.

Santa Rosa Mayor Arlene Arcillas also rushed to the site.

ABS-CBN News has sought comment from the management of the construction firm and of the building being constructed.
