MANILA — A two-seater Cessna plane crashed in the vicinity of Barangay Libsong East, in Lingayen, Pangasinan around 8 a.m. on  Sunday, March 30. 

According to Police Lt. Col. Amor Mio Somine, the chief of police of Lingayen, the pilot and a student pilot aboard the plane died in the crash.

"Unfortunately po medyo malungkot na balita pero pagdating sa ospital dineclare dead on arrival po sila," according to Somine.

(Unfortunately, they were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.)

The Cessna plane had just taken off from the airport when it crashed, Somine added.

"Habang papaitaas siya...noong nasa itaas na, noong magu-u-turn na siya, bigla daw pong bumagsak, kaya hindi pa po nakakalayo sa airport," he said.

(It had just taken off. It was making a turn when it crashed.)

An investigation into the cause of the incident is still ongoing, according to Lingayen police.
