MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation has dismissed reports linking the deaths of two farmers in Nueva Ecija to the declining prices of palay, stating that other factors were behind the tragic incidents.

The deaths took place in Guimba, where two confirmed suicides of farmers were reported on March 12 and March 18, 2025.

The widow of the first victim also clarified that her husband is farmworker and was not directly affected by the low prices of palay.

The second victim, also a farm worker in Guimba, took his own life due to personal reasons, the NBI said.
