The Davao City Police said it will deploy around 1,800 police personnel to ensure security and order at the gathering celebrating 80th birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City on Friday, March 28.

DCPO acting chief Police Colonel Hansel Marantan said that they are prepared and that security measures are in place for the event, which is expected to draw thousands of supporters.

Supporters have indicated that the event will not only be a celebration of Duterte's birthday but also a call for his immediate release from the International Criminal Court in The Hague, The Netherlands. 

Tarpaulins and posters have been displayed in various areas of the city to show support for Duterte. 

A stage is also being set up at the corner of Roxas Avenue and C.M. Recto Street, which will serve as the venue for the rally.

Some schools in the city have also announced that they will implement blended learning during this time.
