MANILA – Authorities have arrested an alleged accomplice in the 2018 high-profile murder of businessman Dominic Sytin, police said Thursday.

Central Luzon police chief BGen. Jean Fajardo identified the suspect as Edrian Rementilla, also known as Ryan Rementilla and Oliver Fuentes. He was arrested in Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City on March 22 at around 10:30 p.m.

Rementilla faces an arrest warrant from a Manila court, with no bail recommended. He had  been evading authorities for more than six years by constantly changing location, Fajardo said.

"You can run, but you can never truly hide. This arrest proves that no matter how long it takes, justice will always prevail. Let this be a strong message to all criminals—there is no escape. The law will find you, no matter where you hide," Fajardo said.

Following his arrest, Rementilla was transferred to the Central Luzon police headquarters in Camp Olivas, San Fernando, Pampanga, where he would undergo arraignment and pre-trial for murder and frustrated murder charges.

Fajardo said Rementilla’s capture brings the case of Sytin’s murder closer to full resolution.

Sytin, the founder and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI), was shot and killed in front of a hotel in Subic on November 28, 2018. His bodyguard was wounded during the attack.
