MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inspected Friday the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3 (Governor’s Drive Interchange) in Cavite.

The 8.64-kilometer segment will link Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to Governor’s Drive in General Trias City, Cavite.

The president was joined by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPTC President Jose Ma. Lim, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Transport Secretary Vince Dizon, Cavite Gov. Athena Tolentino and General Trias City Mayor Jonjon Ferrer.

MPTC said the subsection was 44 percent complete and targeted for full operation by the third quarter of 2025.

The segment, once completed, is expected to decongest Governor's Drive and “provide seamless access to major economic hubs in the region.”

The project is among the eight subsections of CALAX — a 44.58-kilometer four-lane closed-system tolled expressway connecting CAVITEX and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).

Once CALAX is complete, the MPTC said it would ease traffic on major thoroughfares in Cavite and Laguna such as Governor's Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road to “further boosting trade, tourism, and economic activity in the region.”

It will significantly reduce travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX by about 45 minutes, servicing up to 95,000 motorists daily.

CALAX Segments that are currently operational include the entry points of Mamplasan and interchanges at Laguna Boulevard, Laguna Technopark, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, and Silang Aguinaldo.
