RIZAL - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have seized P272 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Rizal Cement Village, Bgy Pantok, Binangonan, Rizal on Wednesday.

PDEA spokesperson Atty. Joseph Frederick Calulut said the estimated weight of the confiscated shabu is around 40 kilograms.

The raid was a joint operation of elements of PDEA Intelligence Service, PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (RO-NCR) Regional Special Enforcement Team 2, PDEA Regional Office IV-A, Rizal Provincial Office and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PNP-PDEU) Rizal.

One suspect, identified as alias "Ronald," was arrested.

“That person is from Pasig pero umuupa sa Binangonan, ito po ay wholesaler ng suspected shabu don po sa area, distributing sa Rizal and Metro Manila,” said Calulut.

“Umuupa lang po siya, that is one of the modus being conducted today by some of our distributors.”

“One way is to mislead the operatives, palabasin na hindi dun yun area nila yung bahay nila, pero pang ano ito pang ligaw lang sa ating operatiba,” he added.

Confiscated during the operation were 40 foil packs labelled "168 Freeso-dried Durien" containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

“Based on intelligence reports and data gathered from international counterparts, masasabi ho natin na galing siya ng Myanmar,” said the PDEA official.

“We are backtracking that right now and one of the possibilities is our seaports, kasi malaki yung ating coastal areas sa it is possible na backdoor entries yung nangyari ho dito,” he added.

The suspect will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect has refused to comment on the allegations.
