DPWH Cagayan Valley said construction of the bridge, which had a total length of 990m including 12 arch bridges and approaches, started November 2014. It was completed more than 10 years later at Feb. 1, 2025.

“Total length of the bridge is 990m consisting of 12 Arch Bridge with a span of 60m and 9 spans of Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG) Type IVB and the total length of approaches is 664.10 ln. m. The contractor of the bridge is R.D. Interior, Jr. Construction,” it added.

It said a 60-meter arch bridge portion of the Cabagan-Santa Maria Bridge collapsed at around 8 p.m. Thursday after a “dump truck carrying boulders with a calculated approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of around 102 tons passed on it.”
