<div><br/></div><p>MANILA — Officials from the Police Regional Office Central Visayas made a surprise visit to the Lapu-Lapu City Jail on Tuesday to check on contractor Sarah Discaya and others accused of involvement in the flood control scandal.</p><p>Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, PRO 7 Director, said that he was asked by the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla to inspect the condition of accused.</p><p>“Na hindi na-affordan ng any unnecessary treatment. I conducted an ocular inspection,” said Maranan.</p><p>He said that he personally saw Discaya and 9 others involved in the scandal at both the female and male dormitories.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/12/22/sarah-discaya-co-accused-seek-return-to-nbi-custody-2030">Sarah Discaya, co-accused seek return to NBI custody</a></div><p>“Andun talaga sila sa regular jails. In quarantine, 5 days to 2 weeks to check their health conditions,” added Maranan.</p><p>Based on assessment from the physicians, they do not have any illnesses except for their pre-existing conditions.</p><p>The facility is also heavily guarded, confirmed the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.</p><p>“We are doing our best and this facility can secure our high-profile PDLs.
