MANILA – The Phivolcs on Monday said it continues to monitor Mayon Volcano&#x27;s activities, after state seismologists noted the new spines of dark lava from its summit lava dome last week.In a public briefing, Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol said based on their 24-hour monitoring, Mayon had 6 rockfall events. A crater glow could also be seen through their telescope.“Sa ngayon, pasok pa naman ito sa parameters namin sa Alert Level 1 o low-level activity,” said Bacolcol.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/9/6/phivolcs-reports-increased-seismic-activity-in-mayon-volcano-2009">Phivolcs reports increased seismic activity in Mayon Volcano</a></div>“Katulad ng sa seismic activity natin, mababa pa rin ang volcanic earthquakes natin. Per the last 24 hours, wala tayong isang volcanic earthquake and ang gas emission naman natin ay mababa din,” he said.“Kung sasabihin natin na puputok ba ang bulkan in the next few days? Hindi pa dahil nasa Alert Level 1 pa rin tayo. But again we are closely monitoring the activities of Mayon Volcano,” he added.The Phivolcs maintained that the expansion of a no-fly zone remained in the purview of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).“Ginagawa ito ng CAAP batay sa scientific inputs ng ating tanggapan and lalo na tungkol sa posibilidad ng volcanic gas, ballistic fragments, at biglaang pagbabago sa volcanic activity na magiging delikado sa mga sasakyang pang hipapawid,” he said.Mayon remains at Alert Level 1, which means the volcano is in an abnormal condition, without the imminence of a magmatic eruption.  Mayon last erupted in <a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/06/17/23/erupting-mayon-continues-to-ooze-lava-alert-3-remains">June 2023</a>.
