Photos courtesy of CAR and PRO2 via Karen de Guzman, ABS-CBN News</div><div> </div>MANILA — Joint forces of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recovered explosives, weapons, and logistical supplies in separate intelligence-driven operations in Kalinga and Cagayan.The first operation took place on December 11, 2025, in the mountainous area of Sitio Sagideng, Barangay Taga, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, where police and Army troops discovered an abandoned communist encampment.Authorities recovered non-explosive logistical items, including food supplies, medicines, communication accessories, and digital storage devices.Also seized were explosive and ammunition items such as an MK2 fragmentation grenade, rifle grenades, a 40mm high-explosive cartridge, and corroded 5.56mm ammunition.All recovered items were brought to the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station for proper inventory and disposition, dealing a setback to CTG logistical capabilities in the area.Two days later, on December 13, a major combat operation led to the discovery of a hidden weapons cache in a forested area near Pinicun Falls, Barangay Dadda, Amulung, Cagayan.Operating troops recovered high-powered explosives, assorted ammunition and magazines, a caliber .38 firearm with holster, and subversive documents, all hidden inside a plastic container wrapped in a sack.Explosive items were immediately turned over to the Cagayan Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit, while non-explosive materials were placed under the custody of the 1st Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company for documentation and further investigation.“These recoveries show how valuable information, when acted upon immediately, can prevent violence and protect lives. Mahalaga ang papel ng mamamayan sa pagbibigay ng impormasyon upang maagapan ang mga banta sa ating komunidad,” acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.<div> </div>.
