<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17629315425771762931542054.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="DILG, local governments working to release cash aid to typhoon-hit families"/></div><p>MANILA — The Department of Social Welfare and Development will soon begin its distribution of financial assistance to victims severely affected by the consecutive typhoons to help in their recovery in time for the holidays.</p><p>Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian said local government units in Catanduanes and Aurora  — two of the provinces most battered by ‘Uwan’ — are already compiling lists of families for the department&#x27;s emergency cash transfer program.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/11/10/uwan-dumps-almost-a-month-s-rain-in-cataduanes-in-2-days-1650"><strong>Uwan dumps almost a month&#x27;s rain in Cataduanes in two days</strong></a></div><p>“Ang naging agreement namin in one week’s time isa-submit ng mga pamahalaang lokal ang listahan ng totally and partially damaged [houses] para agad-agad naman ma-process ng DSWD ‘yung financial assistance,” he said in an interview with state-run media PTV Wednesday, November 12.</p><p>(Our agreement is that in one week&#x27;s time, the local government units will submit their lists of families with damaged homes so DSWD can process the financial assistance immediately)</p><p>He said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered government to focus on delivering food to typhoon-hit families, with distribution of financial assistance &quot;right after&quot;.</p><p>So far, the agency has distributed nearly a million family food packs to affected areas of ‘Tino’ and ‘Uwan’.</p><p>In Catanduanes, around 30,000 family food packs have already been consumed. An augmentation of 50,000 packs is now on its way and will be distributed within three days.</p><p>In Aurora, family food packs have already been provided to 25,000 affected families.
