MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday it was investigating the identity of the tenants and operators of an alleged shabu factory at a rental house in Tanza, Cavite.

Police discovered the alleged shabu laboratory after an explosion occurred at Barangay Sahud Ulan early morning on Tuesday, January 28.

When firefighters responded to the explosion, they found drug paraphernalia, equipment and suspected chemicals inside the house, prompting them to inform the local police station.

“What’s important ay nakuha natin ito sa isang aksidente lang na nangyari. Merong nakapag-report at nung nakita nila na may mga equipment na believed to be used in manufacturing suspected illegal drugs,” she added. “Nakikipatulungan na rin, naki-join na rin sa ating efforts to run after mga suspects ang PDEA.”

Following the discovery of the alleged shabu factory, Fajardo said the PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were intensifying their operations against those possibly manufacturing illegal drugs in the country.

“Hindi lamang sa Tanza, maging sa mga ibang lugar kasi matagal na panahon na—taon na—na wala tayong nadidiscover na mga ganito because based on our investigation and even the PDEA would confirm this, na karamihan sa nakukuha natin na malalaking shipment ay talagang dumaan ng Customs, dumaan ng ports natin, but now na merong ganitong discovery and this is really up to the PNP and PDEA to run after,” Fajardo said.
