CEBU CITY — The Sinulog Festival 2025 has drawn over 200,000 spectators to its main venue as it features over 44 dancing contingents.

Despite the scorching heat, the contingents along with floats and higantes marched on.

Thousands of spectators along the parade route were also spotted braving the heat.

The atmosphere was filled with music, dances and colorful costumes.

Others came from far away, such as the Lagahit Family who traveled from Surigao City.

Feast of Sto. Niño de Tondo draws 7,000 devotees

“This is our yearly tradition and we are also here to support the contingents from our place,” says Gary Lagahit.

“It is very happy and warm. I like it,” another attendee, George from Madrid, Spain, said.

Organizers said that the event is going on smoothly as planned and the number is expected to increase in the coming hours.

“Yes, we are still the mother of all festivals,” said Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia.

Other performances to be featured in today’s Sinulog are from the Masskara Festival of Bacolod City, Sandurot Festival of Dumaguete City and even a contingent from Albay in Bicol.

Security forces said there were no untoward incidents reported except for a float that was that stalled because of engine issues.

They are also expecting more revelers to arrive by afternoon and night, when temperatures will be more bearable.

“The numbers are fluctuating and we are anticipating more,” said PLtCol. Theresa Macatangay, spokesperson of the Cebu City Police.

The Sinulog Festival is done in concurrence with the 460th feast of the Santo Niño de Cebu.
