CEBU CITY — The preparations for the 460th Fiesta Señor or the annual feast of the Santo Niño de Cebu is in full swing. 

On Monday, Cebu City Hall officials along with representatives of the Cebu City Police Office and the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño made a walk through for next year’s solemn foot procession route.

Sinulog Festival in Cebu marches on despite heat

It is a shorter route compared to this year, spanning only 5.7 kilometers. It is about a kilometer short than 2024’s 6.44 km.

“There are many things that we need to arrange and adjust,” said Raquel Arce in Cebuano, the head of the Cebu City Transportation Office. 

Devotees are expected to tread the Osmeña Boulevard, General Maxilom Avenue, Imus Street and back to the Basilica. 

One of the things that they need to fix is to divert the devotees who will pass by the ongoing construction of the Bus Rapid Transit. 

There will be millions of devotees expected to join in the solemn procession. In 2024, Cebu logged over 1 million attendees despite light rainshowers. 

The schedule for 2025’s solemn foot procession is on January 18 and the feast of the Santo Niño de Cebu will be on January 19, which is also the day of the Sinulog Festival. 

There are about 35 dancing contingents that have signed up to join the Sinulog 2025.
