MANILA — Pandi, Bulacan Mayor Enrico Roque and two others were arrested in connection to a rape complaint, police confirmed Wednesday.

A tracker team served the arrest warrant for Roque, Pandi Councilor JonJon Roxas, and another man at a resort in Pandi on Tuesday night, said Metro Manila police chief PBGen. Anthony Aberin.

“This operation is a strong reminder that no one is above the law. Our assurance is that NCRPO will pursue justice without fear or favor, ensuring accountability for everyone,” Aberin said in a statement.

In an affidavit, a woman accused the suspects of sexually abusing her in Caloocan on April 6, 2019, Northern Police District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) chief PLtCol. Alain Licdan said. 

The suspects have filed a motion to quash the arrest warrant and information, saying the allegation was fabricated and “politically motivated”. 

They were brought to the NPD for documentation ang processing.
