MANILA — An animal welfare group decried the death of a community cat in Makati after it was allegedly kicked by a foreigner.

In a Facebook post, CARA Welfare Philippines sought the help of netizens in finding a foreign man allegedly responsible for the death of Ken, a community cat.

The cat was simply resting in the area when it was kicked by the man in an "unprovoked" attack, the group said.

It said the man, believed to be a Chinese national, refused to provide his address when confronted and brought to barangay officials. The man also allegedly told CARA Welfare to write to the Chinese Embassy.

“We seek your help to know the man’s identity and whereabouts in order to proceed with the filing of a case against him. This was not just an attack on one cat. It was a blatant violation of our law - RA 8485,” the group added.

CARA Welfare said it would file charges against the foreigner for violating the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

The group also offered a monetary reward for anyone who could provide information about the location of the man.
