<p>MANILA — Church officials on Friday said the aggressive behavior of some devotees of the Jesus Nazareno contributed to the slow movement of the Traslacion, as the procession crawled through one of the tightest portions of its route in Quiapo.</p><p>According to Quiapo Church communications coordinator Siglen Cabrito, a growing number of devotees have been forcing their way toward the front of the andas, causing repeated stops and delays.</p><p>“It seems mas aggressive ang mga deboto na makapunta sa harap ng imahen,” Cabrito said.</p><p>“Madami sa kanila ang tumitigil sa gawing harap sa baba ng Andas na nagdadasal at matapos ay magsisikap na sumampa para makahawak sa salamin ng Andas,” he added.</p><p>As of 7:05 p.m., the procession remained along Arlegui Street, considered one of the most crucial and challenging stretches of the route due to its narrow roads and heavy foot traffic.</p><p>Church officials noted that Arlegui becomes even more congested in the evening as workers head home, adding to the bottleneck.</p><p>“Ang average time and motion natin bago kumanan ng Arlegui ay 3.5hrs per kilometer,” Cabrito said.</p><p>“Masikip ang mga kalsada ng Arlegui at nagdatingan na ang mga lumabas sa trabaho.”</p><p>With the current pace, authorities warned that the procession could extend far beyond its usual duration.</p><p>“If the current pace remains, we might exceed more than 21 hours,” Cabrito added.</p><p>Church and safety marshals have repeatedly appealed to devotees to cooperate, follow safety protocols, and avoid dangerous attempts to climb the andas, stressing that discipline is key to ensuring the safety of millions participating in the annual religious event.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RcJOSjJfoY0??si=6kiyZm0H2k87NqnE&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
