Araneta Avenue. Upon reaching the E. Rodriguez crossing, he stopped and appeared to be attempting to start the vehicle, repeatedly turning the ignition, but the motorcycle failed to run. He then continued pushing it.CCTV footage showed another motorist trying to assist the suspect, though police clarified that the individual was not considered an accomplice.Police operatives said the suspect &quot;chopped up&quot; or dismantled the motorcycle upon reaching Cabignayan Street.The motorcycle&#x27;s owner later discovered that his vehicle was missing and immediately reported the incident to the QCPD. Investigation revealed that the victim had left the motorcycle unlocked, making it easy for the suspect to take it.QCPD personnel conducted backtracking and follow-up operations, which led to the suspect’s arrest. A firearm was also recovered from his possession.“Ayun sir, na-chance upon, nakilala agad ng victim &#x27;yung motor, actually medyo nakahoy na po,” said P/Capt. Bobby Castillo, Chief of the Station Intelligence and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) of QCPD Police Station 11.The motorcycle was recovered but was already heavily damaged, with most of its parts removed.“Nung time na narekober &#x27;yung motor, siya mismo &#x27;yung nagkakalas ng mga parts ng motor. Talagang halos nakita niyo naman, halos skeleton na &#x27;yung motor natin,” Castillo added.The suspect refused to give a statement.According to the QCPD, the suspect has previously been involved in multiple criminal cases, including snatching, illegal drugs, and frustrated homicide.Police reminded the public to double-check and secure their vehicles before leaving them in parking areas.The suspect, who is currently detained at the Galas Police Station, will face charges for violations of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and illegal possession of firearms.
