MANILA - Thousands of devotees took part in the annual blessing of “estandartes,” or banners and replicas of the image of Jesus Nazareno, at the National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno at Quiapo, Manila, Saturday, January 3.The celebration drew devotees carrying images of varying sizes but sharing the same devotion and belief that Jesus Nazareno guides and blesses them.The parade of replicas filled Villalobos Street, which is usually lined with vendors.Among those who attended was 8-year-old Dwayne Anthony Delos Santos from Sampaloc, Manila, who brought his collection of “chibi saints,” or small religious images, to be blessed.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/2/from-church-to-street-jesus-nazareno-replica-visits-quiapo-barangays-1332">From church to street: Jesus Nazareno replica visits Quiapo barangays</a></div>Included in his collection was his first image of Jesus Nazareno, reflecting a devotion he inherited from his father.“Pumupunta po kami ng ibang simbahan para mamili… Sana walang sakit tsaka malakas kami tsaka malusog,” Delos Santos said.His father, Dun Hill Delos Santos, said he has been bringing his son to church in Quiapo since Dwayne was born.“Actually meron siyang sariling altar niya e. Masaya ako kasi sumusunod siya sa kagustuhan ko… Actually miracle baby siya, dinadala ng mother muntikang makunan, paglabas niya pasalamat kami na nabuhay siya,” he said.Not all devotees came with family. Noel Vera traveled alone from Pasig, carrying his replica of the Jesus Nazareno. He became emotional while praying to Jesus Nazareno at Plaza Miranda.“Naranasan ko po ‘yong madilim na pangyayari sa buhay ko. Noong nakilala ko si Poong Jesus Nazareno, dito ko po inalay ‘yong buong buhay ko na sana tulungan niya akong mabuhay at makabangon… Yong pakiramdam mo na nabawasan kahit kokonti, malaking bagay na po sa akin sir,” Vera said.According to the church, the replicas symbolize not only the image of the Jesus Nazareno but also the depth of faith and devotion.“Ang pagbabasbas na ito ay pagtanggap sa imahen na ito dahil ang imahen ay tanda ng kanilang mga panalanging sinagot ng Mahal na Poong Jesus Nazareno,” said Rev. Fr. The church reported that a total of 3,228 replicas were blessed during the event.
