Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Atong Ang. <em>Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The notary public who notarized the affidavit submitted by the camp of fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang regarding his missing rifle has been subpoenaed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).</p><p>CIDG–National Capital Region (NCR) Chief Col. John Guiagui said authorities asked the notary public to bring pertinent documents related to the affidavit of loss as part of the ongoing search for Ang.</p><p>Ang remains at large and is the subject of warrants in connection with the disappearance of more than 30 cockfighting enthusiasts, who were allegedly abducted and killed.</p><p>“Nagpa-receive tayo ng subpoena doon sa nag-notaryo to bring ‘yong pertinent documents — kailan ito isinubmit, ano pa ‘yong mga dokumento to support, anong nangyari sa nawawalang baril, at totoo ba na ninotaryo nila ito?” Guiagui said.</p><p>“To check the veracity — kung totoo ito, kung nag-appear ba siya? ’Yon ang mga titingnan natin,” he added.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/21/atong-ang-surrenders-guns-after-pnp-revokes-firearms-license-1817">Atong Ang surrenders guns after PNP revokes firearms license</a></div><p>Ang’s camp earlier surrendered five of his six firearms to authorities following the revocation of his License to Own and Possess Firearms and Firearms Registration.</p><p>Another gun registered to Ang — a .260 rifle — was reportedly lost on October 11, 2025, months before the permits were revoked, according to an Affidavit of Loss and a police blotter report submitted by Ang’s lawyer.</p><p>“Kailan sila nag-submit ng affidavit? Was it before or after nag-isyu ng warrant?” Guiagui said.</p><div> </div><div><strong>STILL ARMED AND DANGEROUS</strong> </div><p>Meanwhile, Guiagui said Ang is still considered armed and dangerous despite having surrendered five of his firearms.</p><p>“Ang dami niyang bodyguards and associates wanting to protect him. Paano mo mapo-protektahan ang isang tao? You should be armed also.
