<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1768272974331518320289_1148406240657336_4674762284583663737_n.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>DICT photo</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Department of Transportation of the Philippines on Tuesday reminded motorists that they could use their electronic driver&#x27;s license (eDL) and settle fines for traffic violations online. </p><p>Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez noted that a department order earlier directed traffic enforcers “to accept an eDL as a valid form of authorization and identification to operate a motor vehicle.” </p><p>“For example wala po kayong actual physical card pero may e-driver&#x27;s license kayo at kayo po ay nahuli o mayroon kayong paglabag sabihin na natin, ang gagawin n&#x27;yo lang po ay ipakita nyo sa enforcer ang inyong e-driver&#x27;s license na to be accessed through LTMS portal at &#x27;yan po ay allowed,” he said in a press release. </p><p>He added that the e-driver’s license can be accessed through the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal or the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/10/you-can-now-renew-your-driver-s-license-through-the-egovph-app-here-s-how-1942">eGovPH Super App.</a></p><p>&quot;May account po dapat ang driver&#x27;s license holder. &#x27;Yun po ang kailangan ninyong i-access at ipakita sa enforcer. At ito po (e-driver&#x27;s license) ay isa ring rason kung bakit hindi na kailangang i-confiscate ang actual physical license,&quot; he said. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/9/dotr-suspends-confiscation-of-driver-s-license-over-traffic-violations-1608">DOTr suspends confiscation of driver&#x27;s license over traffic violations</a></div><p>He also reminded motorists that they can pay online for a Temporary Operator&#x27;s Permit (TOP) in case they are involved in a traffic violation. </p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung TOP ang magiging basehan ng penalty, ng fine at &#x27;yun ang gagamitin ninyong pambayad at ngayon po pwede nyo na po yan gawin din online. Paraan yan ng gobyerno na maging kumbinyente at tunay ang serbisyo publiko. Pwede mo naman bayaran online &#x27;yan,&quot; he said. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/1/5/license-eyed-for-driving-2-or-3-wheeled-electric-vehicles-1809">License eyed for driving 2 or 3-wheeled electric vehicles</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>SOME MOTORISTS UNAWARE</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Lopez noted that the e-driver’s license was rolled out in the government portal in 2023, but only a few were aware of this feature. </p><p>He noted that motorists cannot screenshot the digital ID and would instead need to open it through the LTMS website. </p><p>But what happens if one forgets the password? </p><p>The user can input their email used for applying or renewing their license and click the “forget password” prompt. The LTMS will send a link to the email to reset the password.</p><p>Driver Jimmer Yarte went to the LTO main office from Bulacan to claim his confiscated driver&#x27;s license for driving on the wrong lane along the expressway.</p><p>His violation happened weeks before Lopez issued an order to do away with license confiscation.</p><p>He said he was not abreast with technology, so he opted to physically process the release of his license in the LTO main office.</p><p>Other motorists who trooped to the LTO main office were not aware that they could pay through e-wallets using the LTMS website.</p><p>LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao admitted that there was a need to boost information drive so that it will be easier to settle traffic violations.</p>
