Jessie Cruzat, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Colorful replicas of the image of Señor Santo Niño were paraded around the streets surrounding the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of Señor Santo Niño de Tondo in Manila on Sunday afternoon.In the morning, a group led by Justine Tuico -- a florist and devotee -- was already busy preparing a karosa that would carry a replica of Señor Santo Niño for the procession. Tuico and his group are the ones tasked every year with arranging the flowers at the altar of Señor Santo Niño de Tondo.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/1/11/vendors-set-up-early-for-sto-ni-o-de-tondo-fiesta-1234">READ: Vendors set up early for Sto. Niño de Tondo fiesta</a></div>&quot;Sa linggo-linggo kong pag-aalay ng talento sa kanya, sa Panginoon at sa Santo Niño, hindi niya ako binigo, pumasa ako at ngayon, I’m a third year college. Ang Diyos buhay, hindi niya tayo pinababayaan,&quot; said Tuico. While most of the karosa featured in the procession were filled with flowers, one stood out for its unique decoration. Instead of floral arrangements, toys adorned the karosa owned by Mark Dave Saan, a devotee of Señor Santo Niño for more than three decades.&quot;Sabi nga nila ang Diyos ay naging bata, definitely the theme of our karosa is for the children… Sabi nga nila ang kids ang pag-asa natin di ba? Accompanied by her family, she brought a newly purchased replica of Señor Santo Niño to Mass.&quot;&#x27;Yong devotion ko talagang kahit hectic ang schedule ko, I make sure na nagbibigay ako ng time kay Lord… At ngayon dahil may Santo Niño na ako, feeling ko next year umpisahan ko na rin,&quot; Tuliao said. Humility is the central theme of this year’s celebration of the Fiesta of Señor Santo Niño de Tondo.John Paul Tagapan, spokesperson of the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of Santo Niño de Tondo, explained the significance of the theme.&quot;Isa sa pinakamatingkad o pinaka-ubod ng ating tema ay nakilala natin kung paano naging mapagkumbaba ang Santo Niño, naging masunurin siya sa kaniyang ama. Siya bilang batang sanggol ay nakipamuhay sa piling natin.&quot;Meanwhile, on January 17, the traditional &quot;Lakbayaw,&quot; a devotional dance performed by devotees as they travel through the streets of Tondo, is scheduled to take place. The 33 fiesta Masses will also begin on January 17 at 3 p.m. and will continue until 11 p.m. on January 18.The image of Señor Santo Niño de Tondo in Manila is the second oldest image of Santo Niño in the Philippines, brought by Augustinian priests in 1572. The image of Señor Santo Niño de Cebu remains the oldest in the country.
