Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Hundreds of joggers and persons with disability participate in the “Walk, Run, and Roll” fun run  at the University of the Philippines Diliman on July 20, 2024. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is rolling out a new set of identification cards for persons with disability.</p><p>DSWD Asec Irene Dumlao said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo on Sunday said the new IDs is the agency&#x27;s response to the proliferation of fake PWD ID cards.</p><p>&quot;Ito ay naging inisyatibo ng DSWD in response to growing clamor, &#x27;yung mga reklamo hinggil sa nagpo-proliferate na pekeng persons with disability IDs,&quot; said Dumlao. &quot;Naa-undermine kasi ang efforts ng national government in terms of assuring assistance and privileges sa mga PWD as provided under the magna carta for persons with disabilities.&quot;</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/6/23/amid-fake-pwd-ids-govt-eyes-unified-system-to-avert-revenue-losses-1658"><strong>Amid fake PWD IDs, govt eyes unified system to avert revenue losses </strong></a> </div><p>The government is losing about P88.2 billion in taxes in 2023 due to the fake identification cards of PWDs, according to the DSWD.</p><p>&quot;Ibig sabihin hindi masyadong nararamdaman tuloy ng pagbibigay ng benebisyo sa mga iba&#x27;t ibang establisyemento dahil mga mga grupong na nagtetake advantage nito at ginagamit para sa mga pansariling interes,&quot; she said. </p><p>&quot;Ang daming nagprolifarate na fake PWD ID, nagdaming nagke-claim for discounts at andaming kumbaga gustong maprioritize sa pila, sa mga parking at benefits na binibigay sa mga persons with disability.&quot;</p><p>Dumlao said the new IDs have physical and digital versions, both of which would be easily verifiable online.</p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung digital ID nito ay may system kung saan madali itong maverify, gayun din po yung physical ID, RFID enabled kaya hindi basta bastang mapepeke,&quot; she said.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2024/12/5/gatchalian-gov-t-lost-p88-b-in-2023-due-to-fake-pwd-ids-1725"><strong>Gatchalian: Gov’t lost P88-B in 2023 due to fake PWD IDs </strong></a> </div><p>&quot;May mga security features... nakalink sa isang unified ID system kung saan maa-access ito through the DSWD website, mobile application or the web portal.
