PASAY CITY- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed charges against the 3 suspects in the killing of TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) driver Raymond Cabrera last May.

Cabrera was reported missing on May 18 after he picked up three male passengers at a casino hotel in Parañaque.

His vehicle was later found abandoned in Valenzuela on May 20. After weeks in hiding, the three suspects surrendered to authorities on Thursday.

The following day, they led investigators to the location where they dumped Cabrera’s body — a remote area in Barangay Batitang, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.

“Positively identified na yung bangkay. Ini-dentify nung anak… through yung damit na suot, yung sapatos, plus meron siyang fracture sa balikat at braso. Nilagyan iyon ng screw… So he was identified by the son na yun nga yung tatay niya,” said NBI Director Jaime Santiago.

Autopsy results confirmed that Cabrera died from two stab wounds in the chest.

“Tapos na yung amin autopsy, nakita na at least meron siya dalawang tama ng saksak sa chest, upward ang direction. Yun ang cause ng kanyang death," Santiago said.

He also noted that since the body of the victim was already in the advanced state of decomposition, there could be more wounds that are no longer visible.

On Friday, the suspects underwent inquest proceedings at the Department of Justice in Manila for the charge of complex crime of robbery with homicide, which is a non-bailable offense.

Santiago revealed that the suspects initially intended only to rob Cabrera, but the plan escalated fatally.

“Yes. Original intention nila is just to rob him, but then nanlaban. Eh, malaking tao. Malaking tao ’yung TNVS driver, hindi nila na-subdue. Ayun, nauwi sa sinaksak na lang nila. Yun ang storya nila,” he said.

The suspects are now being held at the NBI Detention Facility in Muntinlupa.

Cabrera’s remains have already been cremated in Tarlac  and are scheduled to be turned over to his family on Monday.
