Michael Poa back as Sara Duterte’s impeachment spokesperson

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Vice President Sara Duterte's former spokesperson is back in a similar role after being named spokesperson for the defense panel in her impeachment trial.

“Any questions about the impeachment, you can direct it to him, and then he will give you an interview,” Duterte told reporters Wednesday.

Poa is also among the 16 lawyers in Duterte's defense team.

Poa resigned as spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President in late 2024 during the House of Representatives’ inquiry into Duterte’s alleged misuse of her office’s confidential funds.

Poa, who was also undersecretary and spokesperson of the Department of Education, told lawmakers then that his “consultancy contract was already pre-terminated.”

Poa is the latest spokesperson tapped for the impeachment trial.

The House prosecution panel has designated human rights lawyer Antonio Audie Bucoy as its spokesperson.

The Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, has named lawyer Regie Tongol to a similar role.
