Erwin Tulfo overtakes Bong Go in latest SWS survey on senatorial bets

MANILA -- ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo clinched the top spot in the Senate race, according to a survey conducted a week before the May 12 polls and released Thursday.

Tulfo, a candidate of LAKAS, ranked first in the Social Weather Systems survey commissioned by the Stratbase Group, with 45 percent of voters saying they will vote for him in the upcoming polls.

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, who consistently topped previous surveys, came in second place with 43 percent, followed by former Senate President Vicente Sotto III with 37 percent.

The following are the other senatorial candidates who made it to the "Magic 12", according to the survey:

• Senator Manuel Lapid (4th to 5th places, 34 percent)

• Ben Tulfo (4th to 5th places, 34 percent)

• Former Sen. Panfilo Lacson (6th place, 32 percent)

• Makati City Mayor Mar-len Abigail Binay (7th to 8th places 31 percent)

• Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa (7th to 8th places 31 percent)

• Las Piñas City Representative Camille Villar (9th to 10th places, 30 percent)

• Senator Pia Cayetano (9th to 10th places, 30 percent)

• Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. (11th to 12th places, 29 percent)

• Senator Imee Marcos (11th to 12th places, 29 percent)

  • The other senatorial candidates who received double digit scores were former Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao, Willie Revillame and former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, who tied at 13th to 15th places with 24 percent each.

  • Former Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino is in 16th place with 23 percent, and former Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan is in 17th place with 21 percent. Fomer Representative Rodante Marcoleta is in 18th place with 17 percent, while Phillip Salvador and Rep. Bonifacio Bosita are tied in the 19th to 20th places with 16 percent each.

  • The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews from May 2 to 6, 2025 with 1,800 respondents: 300 in Metro Manila, 900 in Balance Luzon, 300 in the Visayas and 300 in Mindanao.

  • According to SWS, the area estimates were weighted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) 2025 Project of Precincts data for validated voters to obtain the national estimates.
