Transport Secretary Vince Dizon, on behalf of the Philippine government, expressed condolences to the families of those who perished in separate road mishaps over the past week during a press conference on May 5, 2025.

According to Dizon, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered him to ensure that justice is served to the families of the victims of  the recent road accidents. He emphasized that justice should not end with the filing of criminal, civil, and administrative cases, but must include efforts to ensure road safety.

Calling for reforms, Dizon also announced specific measures to address preventable road accidents, including mandatory drug testing for drivers, stricter and enforceable road worthiness checks, implementation of the Speed Limiter Act, and enhanced driver education.

He further urged lawmakers to support the creation of a Public Transport Road Safety Board, as proposed by Senator Grace Poe.
