Residents pointed to the temporary construction of a bridge for the Cavitex C5 link project that obstructed the flow of water in a creek as the culprit.

In a statement, the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation Management said it is addressing the problem by dismantling the temporary bridge.

"This temporary structure was essential for creating a crane path for the movement of equipment and ensuring proper drainage to mitigate potential creek overflow during the construction phase," the statement read.

"Regrettably, despite the meticulous planning of the construction methodology, and increased pipe dimensions, the drainage system became clogged due to an unforeseen volume of rainfall coupled with a significant accumulation of garbage and waste present in the area. This unfortunate confluence of events led to the issues experienced," it added.

The management said it is working with the local government to prevent flooding from happening again.
