MANILA — The Commission on Elections en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), were able to canvass 159 certificates of canvass (COCs) since it started the canvass on Tuesday, May 13.

On the first day, NBOC canvassed 58 COCs including those from more than 20 posts abroad, local absentee voting and 101 COCs on Wednesday.

Comelec spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco said that in the history of Philippine elections, so far this is the highest number of COCs canvassed by the national board.

"This is the highest number of COCs canvassed by the national board in the history of Philippine elections... The fastest in just two days," said Laudiangco.

NBOC suspended its session around 6:30 p.m and will resume on Thursday afternoon to canvass the remaining 16 COCs including those from Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, and Iligan City.

The national board failed to release the partial and official result for senators and party-list groups.

Laudiangco explained that NBOC was overwhelmed by the number of COCs it received in just two days.
