MANILA -- Wes Gatchalian will serve his second term in Valenzuela after being proclaimed mayor-elect on Tuesday, May 13 at the ALERT Multi-purpose Hall in Valenzuela City.

Gatchalian garnered 295,876 votes as the lone candidate for the position, based on the City Certificate of Canvass by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The mayor-elect mentioned peace and order and the fight against illegal drugs as some areas of improvement he is eyeing for his second term.

“Number one ang peace and order natin […]  Inaamin ko po na ‘di naman perpekto ang Valenzuela just like in other cities. But with the support po na binigay natin sa kapulisan, tayo po ang first LGU na nag-convert po and nag-shift to electric vehicles. We just bought 100 units— electric vehicle and non-electric vehicle plus motorcycle," Gatchalian said.

"Ito po ang support natin para patuloy nating paigtingin pa at lalong palalimin pa ang ating mga programs on peace and order and drugs, in particular sa mga communities natin,” he said after his proclamation.

Meanwhile, Valenzuela District 1 City Councilor Marlon “Idol” Alejandrino was declared vice mayor-elect with 244,708 votes.

Running against Alejandrino was Gilbert Gamas who garnered 54,931 votes.

Serving at Congress soon are Valenzuela 1st district representative-elect Kenneth Gatchalian and 2nd district representative-elect Gerald Galang.

“Uunahin ko po ‘yung mga serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ‘ming distrito. Ito po ‘yung uunahin kong gawan ng bagong mga solusyon. At siyempre, ‘yung problema din namin sa baha at tsaka sa suporta natin sa edukasyon sa mga kabataan, sa kabuhayan, at sa lokal na ekonomiya,” Galang said.
