MANILA — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte secured a fresh mandate on Tuesday after racking up a huge lead over her rivals in the mayoral race.

Belmonte, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, and most incumbent candidates, were officially proclaimed as winners of the local races following the completion of vote canvassing.

The mayor had secured about 90 percent of the votes cast in Metro Manila's most populous city, defeating challengers Jonathan Cabalo, Noli Navat, Diosdado Velasco, and Rolando Jota.
