MANILA — Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and her re-election rival Isko Moreno cast their votes at separate schools for the 2025 national and local elections.

Moreno, former mayor of the capital, expressed confidence after casting his vote at the Manuel Quezon Elementary School in Tondo, Manila.

“Iyong confidence andun naman, but I think most of you here kilala ang ugali ko na no letup ako, whether trabaho, sa taumbayan o gobyerno o sa anumang bagay hangga't 'di tapos ang laban,” Moreno said.

He said that throughout the campaign, he maintained a positive attitude despite the intense race for the top post in Manila.

“Wala kayong nakitang negativity, in fact all things thrown at us, well explained publicly, in caucuses,” Moreno said.

His rival, re-electionist Mayor Lacuna voted at Legarda Elementary School in Sampaloc past 9 a.m.

“Relieved po tayo na tapos na ang kampanya, nakaboto na rin tayo. Relieved po,” she shared in an interview.

Lacuna assured Manila residents of her continued dedication to their welfare, promising to serve even better if given a fresh mandate.

“Unang una po, pag ako ay muli nahalal—pasalamat po sa lahat ng naniwala sa isang tapat na tagapaglingkod. Asahan ninyo hinding-hindi kayo papabayaan. Marami pa tayo kailangan tapusin at gawin,” she said.

Manila City councilor aspirant David Chua, who is part of Lacuna’s slate, cast his vote in General M. Hizon Elementary School in Tondo around noon.

It is the first time Chua is running for the post.

“Ito na finish line, papunta na tayo doon. Umiikot ang aking sikmura, sa saya,” he said.

“Mahalaga bumoto. Ito ang karapatan natin, ito ang ambag sa pag-unlad natin,” he added.
