MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday said mothers "are the quiet strength behind every family."

Posting a photo of his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, his wife Liza Araneta-Marcos, and sister Irene Marcos on his social media page, the President cited a mother's role in a family.

"Mothers are the quiet strength behind every family. They care, nurture, guide and give of themselves without asking for anything in return. Their love knows no bounds—and neither does their sacrifice," Marcos Jr. said.

"Ngayong Mother’s Day, taos-puso kong kinikilala at pinasasalamatan ang lahat ng ilaw ng tahanan. Maraming salamat sa inyong walang kapantay na pagmamahal at pagkalinga," he added.

The President's sister Sen. Imee Marcos was not in the photo. The lawmaker has been at odds with the President regarding the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte on a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Sen. Imee was included as guest candidate of Duterte's Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) after leaving her brother's Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate.
