MANILA — Malacañang on Tuesday warned politicians against the inappropriate use of the emergency cell broadcast system (ECBS) following reports that it was being used to campaign for some candidates in the 2025 midterm elections.
ECBS is used by the government to transmit crucial information during calamities or public emergencies such as typhoons and earthquakes.
"Huwag po sanang abusuhin ang… itong emergency cell broadcast system dahil ito po, ‘pag sinabi pong emergency ay dapat pang-emergency lamang po," Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a briefing.
