MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Monday its personnel who supposedly berated a police officer for violating parking rules would keep his post and  undergo anger management training.

The MMDA said it would retain Gabriel Go as head of the  Special Operations Group-Strike Force (SOG-SF), which is mandated to get rid of traffic obstructions.

MMDA chairman Don Artes directed Go to undergo a “five-day training mentorship coaching on traffic management, focusing on leadership, courtesy, and discipline and with special attention on stress and anger management,” the agency said.

“Artes’ decision on Go is not a form of punishment, but more for his self-improvement. The 5-day training mentorship coaching shall be under the guidance of Edison Nebrija of the MMDA Traffic Education Division,” it added.

Go had faced an administrative complaint for alleged discourtesy toward a police officer during clearing operations in Quezon City on March 25.

The agency said it has reprimanded Go “for simple discourtesy with stern warning that the commission of the same in the future will be dealt with more severely.”

“The MMDA constantly reminds its traffic enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance when dealing with unwarranted confrontation with traffic violators, address the matter in a diplomatic manner, and observe the highest degree of professionalism in all official dealings,” it said.
