MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Sunday it will issue a show cause order against Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter Unabia over his alleged sexist remarks regarding the nursing profession.

This was after a video of Unabia made rounds online for saying their nursing scholarship will only be for women and that they should be "gwapa" or good looking.

Lalala yung sakit nyan," Unabia said in jest using the local dialect.

Garcia earlier said that "sexist remarks and gender discrimination has no place in a civilized society, more so in a political campaign" and that they not stop issuing show cause orders "until somebody is punished."

Meanwhile, the Comelec chief also told ABS-CBN News that Pasig congressional bet Christian Sia has yet to explain before the poll body his controversial single mom joke.

Sia was given three days or until April 7 to respond to the show cause order.

Sia also went viral after a video showed him joking about single mothers.

"Minsan sa isang taon, ang mga solo parent na babae na nireregla pa – Nay, malinaw, nireregla pa – at nalulungkot, minsan sa isang taon, puwedeng sumiping ho sa akin," Sia said in the viral video.

He later apologized, saying it was only meant to catch the attention of the audience.
