MANILA (UPDATED) — Businessman-singer Jojo Mendrez filed a complaint on Friday against actor Mark Herras over alleged threats to burn his house down.

Mendrez filed the grave threat complaint at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.

He declined to give more details on the accusation against Herras.

"Hindi pa ako comfortable as of this time," Mendrez said.

"We leave it to the prosecutor's office for them to investigation and hopefully to prosecute the case as well," added his lawyer Chiqui Advincula.

In a video posted on social media, taken during the PMPC Star Awards for TV last March 23, a visibly uncomfortable Mendrez was shown presenting an award. He was supposed to present the award together with Herras, but it was actor Rainier Castillo who presented the award with Mendrez.

According to Mendrez, prior to the event, he met Herras in a hotel room, where the latter threatened to burn down his house for no apparent reason.

But Mendrez believes this is because of his closeness with Castillo, which may have caused Herras to feel bad.

Since that night, Mendrez said he can’t sleep well because of the threat from Herras, and he also cannot attend events and a concert where he was invited as a guest.

Social media comments against him have also added to his problems.

“Ang dami kong pinagdaanan, ang hirap ng pinagdaanan ko bugbog sarado ako sa social media, ang daming mga salita na hindi ma-accept sa sarili ko. Kasi hindi naman ako snaai sa granito. Ordinaryong tao lang ako, sana through this court lumabas ang justice malaman ng tao ang katotohanan,” Mendrez said.

Herras earlier denied threatening Mendrez.

ABS-CBN News has reached out to Herras to air his side regarding the allegation.
