MANILA — The Commission on Elections has started shipping automated counting machines (ACMs) to its hubs in Mindanao.

In an interview at the Comelec warehouse in Biñan, Laguna, Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said they are shipping around 3,700 ACMs to three Comelec hubs in Mindanao, including hubs in Iligan City, Kidapawan City and Zamboanga City.

The machines that will be delivered to Iligan will be for Lanao del Sur, Lanao de Norte and Iligan, while the machines to be delivered in the Zamboanga hub will be for Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga City.

According to Garcia, they are prioritizing far provinces to ensure that there will be enough time for the machines to reach their destinations.

He also said the ballots will be distributed by April 22, in time for the final testing and sealing at least a week before the May 12 elections.
