MANILA — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the result of his agency's ongoing preliminary investigation on the kidnapping and killing of businessman Anson Que and his driver might surprise the public.

Que and his driver were found dead in Rodriguez, Rizal, earlier this month.

Remulla said the justice department's National Prosecution Service could finish its probe on the incident in 25 days.

"It might pull off a surprise, baka kagulat-gulat ang lumabas, well, malalaman n'yo na lang pagdating ng panahon," Remulla said.

On the first day of the preliminary investigation, Que family's lawyer said they wanted the DOJ to be sure of the respondents being implicated to the case.

Another lawyer, representing two Chinese nationals, also wanted his clients cleared.

Remulla said the direct participants in the crime have already been identified.

“Nakuha na natin yung direct participants pero inaayos lang yung mastermind at motive, that’s one thing that we're trying to determine right now,” Remulla said.
