The OPAPRU earlier said that the Philippine National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security aims to “broaden the country’s approach to address the challenges faced by women of diverse and intersecting identities during situations of armed conflict and acknowledges their valuable contributions to peacebuilding.” The document also “emphasizes the promotion and protection of women's rights, particularly in conflict situations.”

Earlier this March, the Philippines launched the Women, Peace and Security Center of Excellence which will allow government to focus on "embedding and localizing women, peace and security principles across all phases of conflict transformation" and "seeking opportunities and developing methodologies to build the WPS capacities of key stakeholders."
