MANILA — Three Chinese warships were spotted as four Philippine and US Navy vessels, along with the Philippine Coast Guard’s Gabriela Silang, conducted division tactics northwest of Bolinao, Pangasinan, on Saturday, April 26.

Division tactics are part of the Multilateral Maritime Event under the PH-US Balikatan Exercises 2025, aimed at enhancing coordination and maneuvering skills among allied nations.

The BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) spearheaded the activity, during which several formations were conducted.

The Philippine Navy has yet to issue an official statement regarding the sighting of Chinese Navy vessels.

However, Commander Johanns Cruzada of the BRP Ramon Alcaraz earlier said the presence of Chinese ships in Philippine waters “will have no effect” on the execution of Balikatan exercise activities.
