MANILA (2nd UPDATE) — The Commission on Elections released another batch of local candidates who need to explain allegations of vote-buying and abuse of state resources (ASR) against them.

A one-page document signed by Committee on Kontra Bigay head Teopisto Elnas Jr. named 19 local candidates allegedly involved in vote-buying and ASR.

These include Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, a candidate for mayor and who is allegedly involved in vote-buying and ASR. Her husband, former Rep. Romero Quimbo — running to represent Markina's 2nd District — has also been ordered to explain allegations of vote-buying.

Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan has also been issued a show-cause order.

In a statement, Lacuna said she will comply with Comelec’s show-cause order and will “disprove and debunk the allegations” against her.

“We will comply with the Comelec’s show cause order as soon as we receive a copy, because we believe in due process,” she said.

“The Comelec is rightfully and properly giving us the opportunity to respond to dispute and debunk whatever was put forward. We are ready to disprove and debunk,” Lacuna added.

The Comelec's CKB also issued show-cause ordered to the following candidates:

•       • Denver Christopher Chua who is running for mayor of Cavite City
•       • Marvin Venus of Baras, Rizal
•       • Ruben Talon, Butch Suspeñe, and Zake Derequito of Dumangas, Iloilo
•       • Cagayan province gubernatorial bet Zarah Rose Lara
•       • Allan Martines de Leon and Kristofer Charles Esguerra of Taytay, Rizal
•       • Mauban, Quezon mayoral bet Erwin Pastrana
•       • Rhapsody Miguel Riveral of Cuartero, Capiz
•       • Winfred Rivera of Kamalayan Party-list
•       • Jeren Jude Bacas and Rolen Paulino Jr., of Olongapo City
•       • Danilo Fernandez of Laguna province 
•       • Romulo Avila, who is runnig for vice mayor of Quezon Province.
