MANILA — The Quezon City Office of the Prosecutor has dismissed the cyber libel complaint filed by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV against lawyer Harry Roque.

In a resolution dated October 9, 2024, Assistant City Prosecutor Darlene Oani said the complaint was dismissed for “insufficiency of evidence.”

Trillanes had claimed that Roque uttered “derogatory statements” against him on his verified personal Facebook account.

Roque posted the city prosecutor's resolution on his Facebook account.

He noted that Trillanes filed a cyber libel when he said: “Hoy Trililing, excuse me, hindi nawalan ng teritoryo ang Pilipinas ni isang inch noong panahon ni Presidente Duterte. At ipinaalala ko sa kanya na nawalan tayo ng teritoryo ay noong panahon ni P-Noy, kung saan siya itinalaga bilang special envoy na walang permiso ng Senado noong mga panahon na iyon dahil siya ay nakupong senador.”

“I thank the public prosecutors for applying the law on libel correctly,” Roque said.

When asked for comment, Trillanes said it was too early for Roque, who is seeking asylum in the Netherlands, to comment on the case.

“Hindi pa nga siya makauwi. Anyway, we will still be filing a motion for reconsideration today,” Trillanes said.
