MANILA — A police officer from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was arrested by his own colleagues on Monday, April 21, after forcibly entering a home in Barangay Damayan Lagi, Quezon City, and allegedly assaulting people inside the house including the minors.

The incident was caught on video and has since circulated online, prompting action from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

In the footage, a visibly intoxicated man identified as a police staff sergeant of QCPD Police Station 2 allegedly barged in the residence. 

He appeared aggressive and is heard arguing with the occupants. Witnesses claimed that he was looking for one of the residents' relative.

“Pinipilit po na ilabas yung tito ko po, pinapalabas po sa amin... yung kapatid ko po hiniga niya na lang po sa kama tapos tinuhod niya po yung gamit sa dibdib, di na po makahinga kapatid ko po tinalunan ko siya payakap po,” said “Jessa.”

“Kapag hindi raw po namin nilabas pagbabarilin niya daw po kami,” she added.

The victims reported the incident to QCPD Station 2, leading to the arrest of the suspect. 

Authorities confirmed that he was not part of any legitimate operation at the time of the incident.

In response, NCRPO Chief PMGen. Anthony Aberin condemned the officer’s actions, reiterating that abuse has no place in the police force.

“Gusto naming ipabatid na walang puwang ang pang-aabuso sa aming hanay, ang NCRPO ay naninidigan para sa isang pulisyang nagpoprotekta, hindi nananakot,” said Aberin.

As a result of the incident, QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Melecio Buslig was relieved from his post for failing to immediately report the case to NCRPO leadership.

NCRPO Deputy Regional Director for Administration PBGen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones said a full investigation is underway.

“Right now tuloy tuloy po ang ating imbestigasyon, I will see to it that he will be punished administratively and as well as criminal aspect na ipapataw natin sa kanya... grave misconduct and dismissal from the service yung [pinaka-mataas na parusa]," said Peñones.

QCPD Officer-in-Charge PCol. Randy Glenn Silvio said that the suspect claimed he was reacting to text messages accusing him of drug involvement, and he was trying to confront the person behind the allegations.

The suspect has since been placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit at Camp Karingal and will undergo psychological evaluation and drug testing.

He will be facing multiple charges, including violation of RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and violation of domicile.
