Russian vlogger harassing Filipinos in BGC arrested

MANILA — Authorities have arrested the Russian vlogger who went viral on social media for harassing Filipinos in Bonifacio Global City.

In a statement, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, 33, who was tagged as an undesirable foreign national following his viral social media posts.

Zdorovetskiy is facing a series of complaints over videos of him harassing security guards and stealing an industrial fan from a restaurant while livestreaming inside a mall in Taguig City on Monday morning, March 31.

According to Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, while the country is known for its hospitality, foreign visitors are expected to respect local customs and obey Philippine laws.

Zdorovetskiy’s arrest was conducted in coordination with the Makati Police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

He has been transferred to the BI’s detention facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig, while awaiting deportation proceedings.  

In his vlog, Zdorovetskiy was seen snatching a security guard’s hat and running off with it. He was also seen seemingly touching another security guard’s firearm and even kissing the latter.

At some point, Zdorovetskiy also grabbed an industrial fan from a restaurant and brought it to the hotel where he was staying.

A Change.Org petition has also been started, seeking to ban Zdorovetskiy from all socia media for cyberbullying in the Philippines.
