MANILA — Authorities have arrested two Singaporean nationals and their Filipino accomplice for possession of loose firearms in Valenzuela City, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said Friday.

According to the CIDG, the suspects were arrested by the Detection and Special Operations Unit in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Gen. T. De Leon in Valenzuela City, on Thursday.

The operation led to the confiscation of 10 loose firearms and one airsoft replica.

Among the firearms seized were an M-15 rifle, a Garand M2 carbine, an MK-9 submachine gun, an MKGs 9mm rifle, four 9mm pistols, a .45 caliber pistol, and a .22 caliber pistol.

A large number of magazines and live ammunition was also recovered.

The CIDG said it has also validated a report that the three individuals were involved in gun-running activities within Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The arrested suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The CIDG said it has intensified its Oplan Paglalansag Omega, a nationwide crackdown on loose firearms and on private armed groups.
